Does filing an extension affect my refund?

extension

Filing an extension (Form 4868) gives you until October 15, 2025 to file, but it does NOT extend the time to pay taxes owed. If you expect a refund, filing an extension simply delays when you can receive it — the IRS can only issue your refund after you file. Filing earlier (before April 15) means getting your refund sooner.
